What happens to your information
This site collects very little, and what it collects goes to two places at most: to LearnLoom Consultants, the consultancy in Hong Kong that publishes it, and, only if you ask to take an application forward, to the admissions team at London School of Planning and Management in London. Because the first of those is outside the United Kingdom, this notice also explains the international transfer and the safeguards around it.
Who is responsible
The data controller for this site and for the enquiries sent through it is LearnLoom Consultants, of Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR. We act as an independent recruitment agent for LSPM and we are not part of LSPM. The person responsible for data protection matters is Education adviser, LearnLoom Consultants, who can be reached at Enquiry form.
Although we are established in Hong Kong, this site is aimed at readers in the United Kingdom and we treat the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 as applying to what we do with your data. Readers in the European Union have the corresponding rights under the EU GDPR. Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance also applies to us.
London School of Planning and Management, of Office 7, 35-37 Ludgate Hill, London EC4M 7JN, United Kingdom, is a separate data controller. It becomes responsible for your data at the point it receives it from us, or at the point you apply to it directly, and it processes that data under its own privacy notice, which it will show you when you apply.
What is collected, and why
- Reading the site
- Nothing that identifies you. The web server records the requested page, the time and a truncated IP address in its logs for security and fault-finding; the logs are rotated after thirty days.
- The enquiry form
- Your name, email address and, optionally, telephone number, country, current role, highest qualification, programme of interest, study preferences and message. We use it to reply to you and to advise you on whether and how to apply. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering a question you put to us. The form also records the time it was displayed and submitted, and a hashed browser identifier, to filter automated submissions.
- Email and telephone
- If you write or call, we keep the correspondence for the same purpose and on the same basis.
- Applying
- LSPM's application page is LSPM's own system with its own privacy notice. Nothing you enter there comes back to us except, eventually, confirmation from LSPM that a person we introduced has enrolled, which LSPM needs to send in order to pay our fee.
We do not buy data about you, add you to marketing lists, or use the enquiry form to build a profile. If you ask a question and decide not to proceed, that is the end of it.
Where it is processed
Enquiries are read and answered in Hong Kong. For a reader in the United Kingdom or the European Union that is an international transfer of personal data to a country that neither the UK nor the EU has designated as providing adequate protection. The safeguards we rely on are these:
- The transfer is necessary to answer the enquiry you have chosen to send us, and you are told of it here and in the consent text on the form before you send it.
- The data is limited to what the form asks for, is used only for the purpose stated, and is deleted on the timetable in section 06.
- The inbox and the form's storage are provided by suppliers under written contracts, with access limited to Education adviser, LearnLoom Consultants and to nobody else at the consultancy.
- Where the law of Hong Kong and UK data protection law differ, we apply the stricter of the two to your data.
- You keep every right listed in section 08, and you may exercise them by email in English.
If you would prefer your details not to leave the United Kingdom at all, do not use the enquiry form; apply to LSPM directly through its application page, which is operated by LSPM in London.
Passing your details to LSPM
If, after the advice call, you tell us you want to apply, we pass your name, contact details, the programme you have chosen and a short note of what was discussed to the admissions team at London School of Planning and Management so that they can pick the conversation up where we left it. We do this only when you have asked us to; an enquiry on its own does not go to LSPM. The purpose of the transfer is admissions: to allow LSPM to consider you for a place. LSPM is in London, so for a UK reader this step brings the data back within the United Kingdom.
You should know that LSPM pays us a referral fee if you go on to enrol. That fee is the reason we keep a record of whom we have introduced, and it is disclosed on every page of this site. It does not affect the fees you pay to LSPM, which are its published fees.
Analytics and cookies
The site sets no cookies of its own for reading. The enquiry form uses a short-lived security cookie to protect against forged submissions, which is strictly necessary and does not identify you.
Live chat. When live chat is enabled on this site, a chat widget supplied by London School of Planning and Management (LSPM), the approved centre, is loaded from its provider (webchat.saaclabs.com) on every page. The widget stores a session identifier in your browser's local storage and sends the address of the page you are on and the referring page to that provider so that a conversation can be continued across pages. Anything you type in the chat goes to LSPM's admissions team, not to us, and is handled under LSPM's own privacy notice.
No analytics service is currently active on this site. If one is introduced, it will load only after you have agreed to it through a visible choice on the page, your decision will be stored in your browser and can be changed at any time, IP addresses will be anonymised, and this section will be updated to name the service and the cookies it sets.
How long it is kept
- Enquiries that do not lead to an introduction to LSPM: deleted twelve months after the last contact.
- Enquiries that lead to an introduction: the record that we introduced you, with the date and programme, is kept for seven years after enrolment for tax and accounting purposes under the law of Hong Kong, because it is the basis of a fee. The content of your enquiry itself is deleted after twelve months.
- Server logs: thirty days.
- Correspondence about complaints or corrections: three years, so that we can show what was said and what was done.
LSPM's retention of your application and learner record is governed by LSPM's own notice.
Who else sees it
Enquiries are read by Education adviser, LearnLoom Consultants and by nobody else until you ask to be introduced to LSPM, at which point they are read by LSPM's admissions staff. We use a hosting provider and an email provider to run the site and the inbox, each under a written contract that limits them to processing on our instructions. We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not share it with any other education provider, agent or advertiser, including the other sites we publish. If you enrol, the awarding body receives from LSPM, not from us, the details it needs to register you and issue a certificate.
Your rights
You may ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to our processing it, or ask us to stop while a dispute is resolved. contact us via Enquiry form and we will respond within one month. For data held by LSPM, exercise the same rights with LSPM at LSPM's website. If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, which accepts complaints about organisations outside the UK that process UK residents' data, or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data in Hong Kong.
